CORRIE child star Alex Bain is set to become a dad — at just 16. He is expecting his first baby with his high school girlfriend Levi Selby, who is also 16. Alex, who plays troubled teen Simon Barlow, is said to have been spreading the news at his school in Lancashire. Levi announced on social media that she and Alex are expecting by posting a picture of her 12-week scan. She revealed that their child is due on December 8. A source said: “Alex has been telling everyone he’s going to be a father. “He isn’t keeping it a secret. “It’s hard to tell if he’s happy about it or not but he’s definitely not ashamed of it. “But some people have been saying how young he is to be having a baby. “It’s only happened to one other person at his school in recent years so it is pretty shocking.” Alex attends school in Lancashire and is taking his GCSEs. The source added: “He’s probably just aiming to get through his exams so he can concentrate on his acting — and now a baby.” Alex and Levi — who is not believed to attend the same school — have been together since April last year. Her mum Judith Calvert posted a picture of the baby scan on Facebook on Thursday. She excitedly told pals she was set to become a nan again. She said: “Call me Granny Walton.” Pals posted congratulations to the couple on social media. Megan-Jade Hall Alberts said: “Can’t wait. You’re gonna be perfect parents.” Morgan Jade Edwards wrote: “Can’t wait to see my little new addition little face to the family. “You’re going to be an amazing mum and Alex an amazing dad.” Alex’s portrayal of Ken Barlow’s grandson Simon saw him win Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2011. He has been nominated four more times during the ten years he has been on the soap. Simon has had a tough upbringing. His mum died, leaving him to be raised by alcoholic dad Peter, played by Chris Gascoyne. He became physically abusive after he was adopted by step-mum Leanne Battersby. And in March viewers were shocked to discover that Simon was one of the yobs who mugged hair salon owner Audrey Roberts. Alex’s home life has been a far cry from his character. He grew up in Blackburn with parents Debra and Paul and made his first television appearance in an ad for Rice Krispies.\r
